The presenter is just days away from celebrating his birthday after he hit a milestone age last year
Vernon Kay shared with his Instagram followers that his birthday is next week, and his age left some of them shocked at the reveal.
The TV and radio presenter has had a successful career spanning over twenty years after starting out on Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast. Since then, he’s hosted various radio shows such as BBC Radio One and Two, and even been the face of live events such as T In the Park.
In terms of his television career, Vernon has presented All Star Family Fortunes, Just The Two of Us, Beat the Star and The Whole 19 Yards with ITV.
Outside of his work, Vernon has been married to Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly since 2003 with the couple sharing teenage daughters Phoebe and Amber together.
Speaking of his relationship previously, Vernon shared: “It took six dates. Tess and I went on six dates and I… back in the day I didn’t have a penny, honest, I was skint, and I was so skint that I wasn’t offered a switch card.
“It was horrendous, and for the first six dates it kept bouncing, kept coming back, I had no money, honest, I had no money.
“And then on the seventh, Tess had decided that, ‘right, if this isn’t working, it’s game over’. Thankfully, I had a little bit of cash in the account and the solo card worked. How funny!”.
Tess celebrated her 56th birthday last month, but it was Vernon’s age that left fans in a bit of shock.
Taking to his Instagram he posted a selfie of him stood in front of various sports tops, as he wrote: “We keep going!! 24hr fever at the weekend.. All sprightly today. Keep grafting..51 in a week! WTF….No thanks. LetsGo!!”
Season six Drag Race UK contestant, La Voix, joked: “Impossible, how can my son be older than me!” as TV presenter Radzi Chinyanganya added: “If I look like you at 41 I’ll be delighted”.
Fans also took to the comments as @jamiesawyerfit commented: “The fountain of youth . Never stop mate” and @chantelleblake35gmail.combla wrote: “You’re looking well, Vernon. You look even younger.”
This comes after Vernon was playfully warned not to talk in too much detail about his relationship with Tess at work. On BBC Radio 2, colleague Bobbie Pryor updated listeners on traffic conditions and urged drivers to avoid getting “too close”, Vernon chimed in with a quick-witted quip: “You don’t get too close to your partner that often”, sending Bobbie into a fit of giggles.
“Don’t bring it up at work,” she playfully cautioned him. In a hasty clarification, Vernon quickly added that his comments weren’t personal, insisting: “I don’t mean myself, I mean in general, Bobbie!”.
