Almost a year after a fatal side-by-side utility vehicle crash in Laurentian Hills, the vehicle’s driver has been arrested and charged with dangerous driving and impaired driving causing death.
The single-vehicle crash occurred in March 2024 in Laurentian Hills, northwest of Pembroke.
The driver and passenger were ejected from the UTV and taken to hospital. The 22-year-old passenger was pronounced deceased, while the driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
A Canada-wide warrant was issued for the arrest of the driver, who was located and arrested in British Columbia in February with the assistance of the RCMP fugitive return program.
Members of OPP’s East Region bail support team and the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP crime unit returned the individual to Ontario on Wednesday.
Dylan Shane Roberts, 26, appeared in court Thursday in Pembroke. His next court appearance is April 22.
