Search and stop order in place due to possibility of ‘violence involving weapons’

The Section 60 order is in place in Cowley and began at 6pm. It covers Templars Shopping Park, extending to Clive Road, and part of Templars Square.

It will be in place until 9pm today (March 14), Thames Valley Police has said.

A Section 60 order temporarily allows police officers greater powers to stop and search in a defined location.

The force said the the order can be extended beyond 9pm ‘if necessary’.

This comes after a large amount of police officers attended Templars Square earlier today.

Police said they were carrying out ‘reassurance patrols’ following intelligence that there was an ‘arranged fight’

A spokesperson for the force added: “Our officers attended, thankfully there was no fight.”
