Crikey’s Electioncast is back! Every Friday throughout the 2025 federal election campaign, politics editor Bernard Keane, readers editor Crystal Andrews and a cast of Crikey journalists will unpack the policy promises, spill gossip from the campaign trail, and address one of the key questions of this election: is the major party duopoly dead?

In today’s episode, we focus in on the tight contests taking place in three battleground seats where Australia’s next government could be decided. Each carries a lesson about the state of politics today: Curtin in Perth, a litmus test for “teals” and Liberals; Gilmore in NSW, Labor’s most marginal; and the unexpected fight for Berowra, proving there is no such thing as a safe seat.

Plus, associate editor Cam Wilson reveals how major parties use your personal data in highly targeted political ads to sway the election result.
