Dallas Cowboys close to acquiring George Pickens in trade with Pittsburgh Steelers

George Pickens’ role in Dallas Cowboys
Once finalized, this trade will provide the Cowboys its much-needed second high-profile wide receiver, who will be working along with CeeDee Lamb.
During the last season, the club could only manage the 11th position in terms of passing offense in the NFL under QB Dak Prescott, according to USA Today.
Pickens is going into his fourth season in the league and will be eligible for a contract extension when this year comes to an end. His rookie deal is currently in its final year.
In February this year, Pittsburgh Steelers’ general manager, Omar Khan informed that the team was looking forward to a deal with the 24-year-old player, but ultimately decided to move on.According to NFL.com, the Cowboys failed to rope in a second wide receiver during the NFL Draft 2025 and the free agency. This comes after the Steelers brought in wide receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks. The player was later signed by the side for a $150 million contract for five years.

While in Steelers, he remained a prominent player in the lineup and witnessed at least 50 receptions, three touchdowns accompanied by 800 yards during each of his three seasons with the side, as per the ESPN report.
Having Pickens in the side will now provide QB Dak Prescott another wide receiver target that can be paired with CeeDee Lamb.
During the last season, Pickens remained unavailable for three games after he suffered a hamstring strain, besides facing several other injuries on the field.
